Behind The Scenes Natural Hair

Actress Kimberly Elise Hosts A Natural Hair Affair In Los Angeles

It’s my goal to help African American women understand how to love and nurture their amazing authenticity.

It was an amazing opportunity for women of various backgrounds to come together, munch on yummy food, and exchange words of beauty wisdom. Ladies from around California came to the Natural Hair Affair to discuss haircare tips, exchange thoughts about products, provide ingredient suggestions, and reveal their “must-do” habits for healthy hair. One of my dear actress-sister-friends Kim Waynes also joined the Natural Hair Affair. The event was also led by Odessa Renia and Aingeel-Z.

We used these guidebooks as a way to lead the conversation. Many women had questions about moisture, dryness, length retention, hair loss, hair styles, and weave/extension maintenance. Please contact if you’d like to purchase a copy of the guidebook.

I also met with Xandrea Garaywho is a writer for Mocha Moms, Inc., a non-profit organization for mothers of color. Dominique Oliver of Dominique’s Vanity Corner attended our first event, and was kind enough to donate products for our gift bags.

I just went natural because my hair has been falling out. I am very insecure about the decision of me deciding to go natural, my hair texture is so nappy that I think it makes me look ugly. I don’t know what to do or how to help my hair become more healthy so it can grow. I am scared to cut all the chemical out of my hair and start very short so I am starting by allowing my chemical to grow out. Can you please help me I don’t know what to do I have tried so many different things and its not working. I just want to know how I can get natural long healthy hair.

Thank you Kimberly Elise for hosting this most needed event. I am loving my natural hair. As an “Old Schooler” who has gone through the various black hair revolutions/evolutions, I am happy to see so many black women who are now embracing our beautiful hair and wearing it well. Now, let’s use all that money that we have invested in someone else’s future and invest it in our own families. I look forward to this most welcomed event. Much love and gratitude to you!
