The Chakra Series: Solar Plexus Chakra

Our ability to be assertive and in control of our lives is always rewarding, but perhaps not so easy to practice. You may be facing that challenge because of a blockage in your solar plexus chakra.

Previously, we took a closer look at the sacral chakra, the second chakra connected to pleasure, sexuality, and creativity. Third in line is the solar plexus chakra, located in the upper abdomen area.

Because the solar plexus chakra is the core of willpower, you will feel confident, responsible, and in full control of yourself when it is free of blockage.

The solar plexus, known as Manipura in Sanskrit, is represented by the color yellow or energy. This is what allows us to take control of impulses, assess strengths and weaknesses, and maintain healthy boundaries.

Because the solar plexus is tied to energy, a blockage or imbalance occurs when there is too much or not enough energy, affecting you both physically and emotionally.

If you have too much energy in the solar plexus chakra, you might experience overeating, fatigue, or exceedingly competitive behavior. But if there is an energy deficiency, you may feel insecure, anxious, have a poor appetite, inability to focus, or lack of confidence.

Despite this, there are many ways you can avoid these symptoms. You can use essential oils and aromatherapy and also practice yoga.

When you open your solar plexus chakra, you will feel empowered to meet challenges and transform inertia into action and movement.

Speaking of action and movement, try these three yoga poses that will help align your solar plexus chakra.

2. Warrior Pose

Warrior pose commemorates the “spiritual warrior,” one who battles with self-ignorance. And what better way to open your solar plexus than with a warrior pose? Strengthen your willpower with this pose that will bring your body to a neutral position and tune your alignment.

3. Corpse Pose

Though corpse pose may seem ineffective, it plays a huge role in the mind and body. Heal your solar plexus from blockage by simply relaxing your muscles and closing your eyes.
