Hair growth is probably one of the things that tests most people’s patience. It takes so long for a lot of people.
And what’s worse is, by the time their hair is long enough to try out a new style or to cover up mistakes from the salon, their hair is already dry and dull.
If this is your concern, you have most likely been searching around Google to look for ways to make your hair grow faster and at the same time healthier. Don’t worry. Here are some foods that prove to be helpful in addressing your hair growth.

There are several problems that prevent your hair from growing healthy. These are hair loss, lack of the right vitamins in the scalp, and hair damage (that mostly comes from dryness). It’s a good thing that the avocado can help treat all three issues.
Avocados are a rich source of Vitamin B and E. Vitamin B is responsible for the growth of your hair while Vitamin E is for taking care of your scalp, where your hair gets nutrients and strength. Adding avocado to your diet can help increase your hair growth to around half an inch per month.
Avocados can also be made into a conditioner that can help strengthen your strands. This is due to the high fatty acid content in avocados. It improves hair elasticity and smoothness. Applying a mixture of mashed avocado and banana to your hair for a few minutes can help prevent hair damage.

Cucumbers are helpful helpful for more than reducing eye bags – they also work wonders for your hair. Silica, an important mineral that helps to make your strands strong and silky, is abundant in cucumbers.
Cucumbers also have a number of nutrients like manganese, calcium, sulfur-sodium, among many others. All of these nutrients combined make an effective mix to avoid thinning hair. In addition, those nutrients help in strengthening your roots.

Like cucumbers and avocados, almonds are rich in Vitamin E content. Vitamin E keeps your scalp healthy to avoid hair loss and improves growth by focusing on where it gets its nutrients.
Almonds are also rich in biotin, which promotes faster hair growth. If you are already desperate to increase the rate at which your hair grows, start by eating a cup of almonds every day.
But wait, there’s more to almonds! They can also help thicken your hair so it doesn’t become fragile and prone to breakage. This is thanks to the omega-3 fatty acids in them. Almonds can be used for Homemade Nut Milk as well.
While legumes don’t necessarily make your hair grow longer, they do prevent hair thinning- which is one of the culprits that affect hair growth. Legumes increase the number of follicles on your scalp and strengthen those follicles so strands are stronger. The result is thicker and healthier hair.
If that wasn’t enough, legumes – like kidney beans and peanuts – have natural oils in them that keep your hair moisturized. Again, maintaining enough moisture will definitely relieve dryness that causes breakage.
5. Cashews and Flaxseeds
Flaxseeds may sound unfamiliar but it is another term for linseeds, which are small brown seeds from the flax plant. They are one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids you’ll find.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to hair growth. They keep your hair healthy and thicken the strands. However, our bodies don’t naturally produce these essential fats. So this is why you have to eat foods that are rich in Omega 3s, like cashews, flax seeds, and leafy veggies.
Cashews are also used to make vegan cheese.
6. Vegetables and Fruits
There are many kinds of vegetables and fruits, but when it comes to hair growth, there are only a few that help. Take, for example, citrus fruits.
Citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is important because it breaks down iron, so that it can be absorbed by the body. Furthermore, iron is responsible for optimum blood flow, which keeps your scalp healthy. If you are low on iron, your hair grows very brittle and is prone to damage.
So while hair growth turns out to be a major woe for many, you don’t have to worry! There are so many more ways you can turn your hair into a healthy crowning glory. Just stock up with the right foods, and you can have the healthy hair you’ve always wanted.
