How To Cope When Nothing Is Going According To Your Plan

Embrace-The-JourneyBy Kimberly Elise

Recently I was talking with a friend who felt incredibly frustrated with the way her life was going.

“Nothing is going according to my plan!” she lamented.

This is something I know many of us have felt at one time or another during our lives. We are encouraged at a very young age to set goals and forge paths to achieve whatever goal we have chosen for ourselves, after all.

Now, I’m one who is all for goals, I certainly have them! But something that I’ve learned over my life is that – while where I want to end up is important – rigidly sticking to a plan and clinging to the desire to be totally in control of the reigns isn’t the most effective way to reach the end goal.

I have found that the best way to get where I am meant to be is to hold my dreams in my heart while also surrendering some control and allow the process to unfold as it should.

Whenever I have trusted, I have had the most amazing journeys and have found the most growth and ultimately ended up far better off than I ever, ever imagined!

To me, the possibilities in life are far greater than we could ever imagine or plan for. If you set your goals and work towards them (you must do your part!) yet still allow surprises and what may appear to be detours to occur, chances are you will find yourself living a life greater than you ever imagined.

My advice, trust that there is a plan – it may not be your exact plan; in fact, it could be even better then you imagined!

    Hi Kimberly,

I just found your site. I stopped by as a longtime fan of your acting. I also wanted to get some natural hair tips. I want to be part of your team. My weekends are spent doing things like reading, writing, adding to my dream board, home care, chill-laxing and re-grouping for the coming week. I also spend time learning about cultures, health, and checking out my favorite actors. You are one of them. I never want to lose touch and try to learn from those I admire. It’s nice to see this side of you. Thank you.

Thank you for this post right at the appointed in my life..I’ve learned throughout my life’s journey thus far that there are no coincidences. I used to envy those who would say “I knew I wanted to be an actor, entertainer, etc”. I wasn’t that kid I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up.. I used to feel inadequate, different and all other labels that would instill insecurity and fear in my mind.. I never had a talent that was nurtured and/or guided by my parents or otherwise. Reading this article definitely reminded me of a sayin.. when I think I am in control is when I learn I am out of control. ..
