I’m not saying I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.
Keep your eyes on the box office this weekend. All Eyez On Me, the most recent biopic of cultural icon Tupac Shakur, was fittingly released yesterday. It would have been the late artist’s 46th birthday.

All Eyez On Me was directed by Benny Boom and written by Steven Bagatourian. It reveals the untold story behind Tupac’s life, from his humble childhood, through his rise to fame, and ultimately, to his untimely and unsolved death.
Rap artist Tupac is best known for his vivid lyrics, revolutionary ideas, and passion for social change. Although some may find his expressions and lyrics “obscene,” those who are familiar with Tupac’s works and unconventional (at the time) ideas can’t deny that he kept it real . He changed the way that people viewed hip hop music and rap artists.
As a dynamic being, he made visible in his raps his many dimensions as a thug, a player, a lover, a thinker, a clown, and well-rounded student. Additionally, he was an artist, and most importantly, a leader.
The life of Tupac illustrates to us that a single person, despite adversity, can harness his blessings and struggles, unconventional ideas, and voice in a positive way to influence and touch millions of lives regardless of social or racial backgrounds, decades later.
And more than 20 years later, Tupac has remained a foundational cornerstone in the rap game. The ideas he shared about social justice remain steadfast.
