When is the last time you felt truly fortunate?
The New Year compels us to make numerous resolutions that may overwhelm us and make us forget to look around and appreciate the magical coincidences in our lives. But moments that inspire us and bring us comfort are something that we all can remember and share.

If you take the time to ponder, you will realize that you are blessed with occasions that bring you closer to what you desire in life.
Noticing the lucky coincidences in life can make you a happier and optimistic person.

Researchers have found that optimists tend to have lower levels of distress and depression. They even have a stronger resistance to the common cold.
True optimists maintain open minds and hearts.
They have faith in the greater good and choose to believe that out of every bad situation, there is a silver lining.
“I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value.”
Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
Every day, I trust that kindness and generosity will reach me. Every night, I reflect on the magical things that happened to me during the day, from having a casual conversation with a professor who was starting a poetry magazine to the possibility of getting my work published. It’s things like these that tell me that there is a universe working for us.
When I notice the amazing opportunities given to me, I feel better about myself and the path that I am on.
I think that’s why believing you are fortunate makes you a happier person. You feel worthy because you give your life meaning. This attitude only brings you closer to a world of limitless opportunities and human connections.
Keeping a coincidence journal is a great way to keep track of those blissful encounters and events in your life.
3 Tips For Keeping A Coincidence Journal
I love to write and document the good things in my life. It’s helpful on a day when I don’t feel like myself. Reading my journal makes me realize that life is pretty incredible. To re-discover events is inspiring.
1. Count Your Lucky Stars
At the end of each day, reflect on the times you received something that you needed without seeking it. Did you receive an email from a colleague saying how talented or appreciated you are? Did you meet a stranger who advised you not to give up on your dreams?
Think of the coincidences or signs that benefited you and made you feel lucky.

2. How Often Do You Feel Lucky?
If you’re just learning to develop a new habit of appreciation, it may be harder to see every single opportunity presented in your life. But don’t worry! Practicing the art of noticing coincidences one day at a time will only lead you closer to a life of gratitude.
3. Be Imaginative
The Law of Attraction teaches us that we must imagine what we want and allow the universe to take action. In addition to taking the time to write about moments that give you purpose, you may also write about what you hope to happen.
