Cultivating a solid home space is an integral step in becoming a whole and healthy individual.

Not only is home a place to “keep your stuff,” it’s where you lay your head to rest and recharge at the end of each day. As I get older, I am seeing more and more how much the layout of my own space affects my mood from day to day. In addition to doing your annual spring cleaning, use these tips to create the bedroom of your dreams:

Add plants.

Not only do add life and symbolize growth, it is proven that plants have a calming effect on people and can help you sleep at night.

Pile on the bedding.

Account for lighting.

This includes both natural and artificial light. Find out what time of day the lighting is best in your bedroom and get a beautiful set of curtains that you can open/close as need be. At night get creative with your lighting fixtures and choose a decorative lampshade.

Find your signature fragrance.

Scents don’t have to be overwhelming or obviously artificial. Chose a soy candle with a natural scent that you love; PF Candle Co. and KOBO Candles are some of my favorite!

Post photos.

Create positive energy.
