Establishing a nighttime maintenance routine is a must for women with natural hair – kinky-coily and curly alike.
It can be the difference between waking up with knots, tangles, and frizzy bed hair, or with defined curls ready to take on the day. Vlogger NaturalNeiicey shows us how she takes care of her natural hair before hitting the sack.
How To Create A Nighttime Maintenance Routine by NaturalNeiicey
- Spray your hair with water and use moisturizer to freshen your hair.
- Divide your hair into sections.
- Twist hair using the two-strand twist method.
- Use a flexi rod at the end of each twist to ensure your ends will have a curl.
- Once done, wrap your hair with a satin scarf or satin cap. Sleep on a satin pillowcase for added protection.
Kimberly’s Nighttime Maintenance Routine
Oh man, starting with a good foundation is critical for the next day.
First, I section my hair with my fingers and I apply Jamaican black caster oil to my scalp and avocado oil to my hair strands. Then I massage my scalp for about 10 minutes to stimulate the hair follicle. Finally, I twist my hair into about eight sections and put on a scarf before I go to bed.
Ajableu’s Nighttime Maintenance Routine
I am so lazy about my hair…so lazy that half the time I don’t even wear a scarf. And I always pay for it the next day and it’s never worth it. To make sure my hair is neat for work in the morning, I first apply a growth serum on my edges after the shower. Then, I follow with aloe vera gel for hydration and nourishment. Aloe vera also serves as a natural gel. Finally, I wear a scarf, which I keep at my bedside table.
