New York has the rep as the city that doesn’t sleep, but if you need a break, nature and relaxation can easily be found at Bear Mountain State Park in New York.
Breathtaking views are just 1 hour and 15 minutes away from NYC! During the day you can indulge in the benefits of a hike or bike trail overlooking the Hudson River. If your getaway is a romantic one, enjoy a picnic under the sun!
Once the night settles in, treat yourself to exclusive downtime at the spa found at the local Bear Mountain Inn.
Want to feel like James Bond on vacation? Two words, Palm Island.
The only way to get to this part of southwest Florida is to hop on the ferry from Intracostal Waterways. The ferry will drop both you and your car off on the beautiful seven-mile long island!
Once there, you can spend time at resort-style villas or get your adrenaline pumping with tons of mainland activities such as wind and kite surfing, segway tours, theatre performances, and concerts. Check out http://bookings.palmisland.com to make reservations.
If you want to get lost in the midwest and experience life from a different perspective, Amish Country in Illinois the place to go.
If you’re already residing in Chi-town, drive a few hours to Amish Country for a small town adventure.
Follow in the footsteps of Frank Sinatra and John F Kennedy and head over to Coppes Commons– a old-school brick building mall. Satisfy your sweet tooth with liquid nitrogen express-made ice cream, a variety of whoopie pies, and fresh baked goods! You can take a Heritage Trail Driving Tour with a free audio CD that will tell you the history of Amish Country as you make your way through town. Looking for a good night’s sleep? Stay at Das Dutchman Essenhaus for a steal at $82 per night.
Feel like taking the family or a group of friends on a spontaneous middle-of-nowhere weekend getaway? Head over to T Bar and M Resort in New Braunfels,Texas where you will find camels, caves, tubes, and croquet activities!
Where’s New Braunfels, you ask? Oh, it’s just 30 miles northeast of San Antonio.
Landa Park Golf Course is only a 10-minute drive from T Bar for all you golf lovers, but don’t worry if your not a golf enthusiast. Entertain your sporty side on the basketball court, tennis court or full gym. I would definitely opt for recreational fun, as the sports complex has ping pong, air hockey, foosball and shuffleboard tables! If you’re in Coal Country around September 20-25th make sure to visit the Comal County Fair & Rodeo. I hear the locals love it so much they go every year!

Joshua Tree, California has a vast landscape, open roads, great hikes, and sunny skies.
Not too far from Palm Springs, Joshua Tree is a perfect warm weekend getaway, fit for a writer meets adventure junkie.
You can meditate in the mornings and then grab a cup of joe and delicious breakfast at one of the many great diners in town. Trust me, there’s no going wrong here. Visit the Joshua Tree Retreat Center also known as the Institute of Mentalphysics which has a cool, earthy gift shop full of beads, stones, books, and clothes!
As you walk the property, you might even want to reserve a camping spot at the Retreat Center’s campgrounds.
Joshua Tree is perfect for taking local yoga classes. Introduce yourself to the locals because they are friendly in this town. Make sure to grab dinner at my favorite pizza joint, Pie For The People, the “Go-Green” pie is to die for. This quaint location will steal your heart! AirBnB is the best deal for your buck when it comes to Joshua Tree. You can easily find a comfy modern or traditional house to rent from a local who treasures this place in their heart.
